My supervision.

My supervision is very different to my training, because my supervision is an important part of what gets you my free guarantee to fix any leaks through your structure.

Supervision is on three occasions only
  1. Pouring the structural floor slab

  2. Pouring the walls to nearly 2m high

  3. Pouring the walls to the top
If there is time I am happy to do a bit of training.

We are likely to find ourselves waiting hours for concrete, which can be a good time for the client to discuss anything I can help with.

Supervision includes
  • Checking the steel

  • Checking the formwork won't leak

  • Checking the concrete when it arrives, adding the admixture and counting the revolutions to make sure it is mixed in. 6 revolutions per m³. AND MAKING SURE NO WATER IS ADDED UNLESS I DIRECT IT TO BE ADDED.

  • Showing the team how to rescue the situation if the concrete arrives setting prematurely.

  • Checking the pump grout doesn't go where it shouldn't.

  • Making sure water gets pushed aside and not mixed into the concrete.

  • Showing the team how to place concrete with the pump then keeping an eye on them.

  • Showing the team how to compact the concrete properly then keeping an eye on them.

  • Showing the team how to scabble the concrete before they leave.

  • Showing the team how the concrete needs to be cured if it is hot, dry, windy or likely to freeze.

But if you entered into a contract with your workforce I will have no power over them.

Contract law says you must leave them to do as they wish and sort out the problems later, with litigation if needs be.

I have some examples of what 'teams who knew better' left clients to sort out on other pages.
You can see many of my examples here

They will not know better. None of them. But they might know what suits them better. How to make the work easier, what they can omit, cheaper materials, etc. But these are some of the causes of leaks.

Top of their list will be to add water to the concrete. But water is not waterproof. They must be made to work harder with stiffer concrete that gives the client the outcome they want. Their structure waterproof and dry from the reinforced concrete alone.
